Mário Roberto has recently settled on Rua de Pedro Homem, right in the heart of Ponta Delgada, in the city’s vibrant art district, with Traça Studio Gallery.This space serves both as a workshop and gallery, where drawings, paintings, and photographs adorn the walls. Roberto is a natural conversationalist. He talks about the artworks he sells, the creative processes behind them, how the Azores are changing with tourism, and the unique aspects of life on the islands.
He also works with large-format photography, using a vintage camera, which is one of the highlights of the gallery. Here, the time required for creation still follows the old-fashioned photographic processes, where the film is developed by hand.
It’s definitely worth stepping in and letting yourself be drawn into the conversation and the timeless pace of the place.
