Pedorido River Beach

Douro

The best way to reach Pedorido Beach from Octant Hotel is on foot, following the trail along the Douro River.

This riverside beach sits at the confluence of the Arda and Douro Rivers, in a place known as Choupal das Concas—where, decades ago, rabões (coal transport boats) were repaired after carrying their loads from the Pejão mines.

The Pedorido Beach leisure park is home to the Tourism Experience Centre of the Pejão Mining Complex, the perfect starting point for exploring the region’s mining, paper, and bread routes.

At the restaurants near the park, be sure to ask about the local river fish—barbel, boga, trout, and scalos. With a bit of luck, one of them might just be on the menu.
