Arquipélago is a Centre for Contemporary Arts with a view of the sea.
Set in the middle of the Atlantic, its mission is to strengthen the cultural and artistic identity of the Azores—on a global scale.
Designed by architect João Mendes Ribeiro, the centre preserves the industrial character of a former alcohol and tobacco factory, seamlessly integrating it with a modern structure.
It offers a regular multidisciplinary programme, connecting the Azores to the wider world of contemporary art.
