Dona Amélia

Dona Amélia

Douro

In Castelo de Paiva, all roads lead to Restaurante D. Amélia.

The posta (grilled beef steak) comes from Montemuro, the baked rice is served in a traditional oval clay dish, and the view over the Paiva River valley includes the vineyards of Barbosa, whose wine is poured at every meal.

Beyond the veal, it’s worth trying the roast kid, rye and maize bread, Folgoso sponge cake, and leite creme, before finishing with the house xiripiti (local aguardente).
