“Pão de Cristo” Fishing Boat

Açores

Just like people, boats have their own names.

Often, these names evoke family members or places to which their owners have a deep emotional connection. It is also common for fishing communities to name their vessels after religious figures or blessings, reflecting their faith in the uncertainty of the sea.

One such boat is “Pão de Cristo”, which sails from the port of Vila Franca do Campo, carrying with it a plea for divine protection over the fishing journeys in the Atlantic waters of the Azores.
